A Medley of History Nature & Tradition
Home to the most celebrated archaeological site of Rhodes, the imposing Acropolis of Lindos with the traditional present-day village nestled beautifully on the foot of the hill, and a coastline brimming with beautiful little coves and beaches, this is an exciting playground for rare emotions. Let Lindos cast its spell on you.
Legend has it that Lindos was founded by Danaos, an Egyptian prince who sought refuge here with his 50 daughters while striving to escape from his violent brother. It is said that they built a temple in honour of their protector, the mighty goddess Athena and somehow like this the glory of Lindos began, where the worship of Athena Lindia is historically traced as early as the 9th century BC.
Vising the citadel of Lindos is an unmissable experience. Atop the Acropolis, eyes are bewitched by the temple of Athena, the Hellenistic Stoa, the ruins of the medieval fortress and the haunting view. A stroll through the modern village is an opportunity to admire its traditional architecture and 18th-century captain houses, while a visit to the Church of the Holy Virgin will reward you with the discovery of beautiful frescoes and pebble mosaics.
Your Lindos journey of the senses culminates seaside. The scenic Vlycha beach conveniently lies only steps from your hideaway at Lindia Athena Luxury Villas, while Kalathos beach makes another excellent option for soul-gratifying dives just a three-minute drive from our property.
